Remember this?! I don't really know why I chose this for today's Flashback Friday....I guess it was because I was thinking about my mom, and how she just bought my niece and nephew the xbox 360 w/ kinect.
I was in 4th grade when I got this. I remember I wanted one. BAD. I was a pretty good kid, did what I was told, etc. etc. Growing up with a single parent and another sibling, it would be pretty ridiculous of me to ask for something like a NINTENDO. I also can't remember if I actually asked for it, or if she just knew how bad I wanted it. One day, when my mom came home from work she had a big plastic bag for me to open. In it was the Nintendo system like the one shown above with Super Mario Bros plus Duck Hunt and a gun...(mine was orange). HOLY COW! Unfortunately, that was the very first time that I had to bring home a quiz for my mom to sign for me to bring back to school to my teacher BECAUSE I GOT AN F!!!! Ah man! Really?? Really... I remember it clearly....It was a 10 word vocabulary quiz that I BOMBED....and here I am with that nugget of information, and I had already seen the green green grass of super mario bros in my future!!! It was terrible. I cried and cried and cried...my mom thought my reaction was a little weird, but I was carrying the guilt of my quiz and didn't want the Nintendo to go away! Ha! It's amazing how certain events seem so earth shattering at the time. I guess I need to remind myself of that story every now and then- she signed the quiz and I was playing with it that night!!!
OMG....so remember this! Well not the bombing the quiz thing, because I never felt as guilty as you did. LOL! My first job was at Sears, and I remember how cool I felt getting to see Sega Genesis on the shelves before customers. Now my nieces and nephews make me dance in front of the TV and the TV "sees" me and mimics my movements. Crazy. I wonder if anything awesome-er is coming out related to Cabbage Patch Kids?
