I'm A Merchandiser

So, a little about what I do...I'm a Store Designer for a nation-wide housewares/furniture retailer.  I'm like the store fairy. I come in before we open and flip things around all day long trying to generate sales.  I do the windows, the floorplan, design all the displays within the store that are constantly changing.  I can set a Thanksgiving Table that will blow your mind. :) and come Christmas, well, I turn into an elf and I'm covered in glitter for 3 months straight.

I love that I get to be creative each day I come to work, and it's great not sitting at a desk all day in front of a computer. The downside? The lovely PUBLIC.  I like to think that because I'm doing the displays that I'm invisible to customers, too bad I'm not.  My favorite is when I'm standing on top of a ladder hanging something ridiculously too large for someone my size to be even carrying and getting asked "Do you work here?"---Ahh...if I had a dollar.

Here's a funny video that is about a Fashion Merchandiser...although I'm not in fashion, the cartoon speaks a lot to how the conversation goes when people ask me what I do for a living.  If you get offended by language, well, consider yourself warned, but its kinda OK because they're cute cartoons =)

And yes...I do stand on things I often should not be standing on...(like everyday)...and yes, I do hurt myself a lot, probably because I'm usually standing on things I shouldn't be standing on.
