Welcome to my blog! Have a seat, stay a while...this is my first ICLW and I'm not really sure where to start!!! I haven't had the time to do an "about me" section yet, but if you scroll to older posts I did do an ABCs on my fertility. So under the ICLWs site, I believe I listed that my blog was mainly about the 80s, TTC, and MFI. So…without further adieu:
80s: I'm a kid of the 80s and proud of it! Every friday I try to do a "Flashback Friday" post that has something to do with the 80s, sometimes its toys, sometimes its food, (actually twice it has been!), maybe this week will be music! I got the idea from my local radio station. Every friday they play music from the 80s in the morning, and it makes me so happy going to work :) Lately its been the one consistent thing I can blog about because our TTC road is moving along at a slow place (more to follow).
TTC/MFI: Yup, thats us, we're trying to conceive…and failing as of yet. Which sucks, I hate failing, and I refuse! But some higher being as a different plan, so try try again for now. DH is 33, and I am 30 (steadily approaching 31..barf) I had been on birth control for about 10 years and thought for sure (like everyone else) we'd be knocked up in no time. Fast forward to a year later, and still no baby. Well, no human baby at least. We've got the best furbaby around…no really, she is the best :) So far we're still waiting to see if I am Hypothyroid (waiting on a second bloodiest) and Monday June 20 is DH's 3rd semen analysis. All in all it seems as if we're battling male factor infertility.
We're pretty laid back as a couple, and we thought we did everything in the right, logical order: education, career, house, finances, living as a couple and enjoying life just being "us" and then, when we decide to pull the trigger and start a family, things didn't fall into place as we expected them to. You never expect for life to be like this. There are good days and bad, and on the bad days I like to go around reading blogs because lets face it, misery loves company, and sometimes, my real world is far to full of fertiles and precious grandchildren.
I had issues with coming up with a name for my blog. I didn't want it to strictly be about TTC, but lets face it, its a pretty big deal in our lives right now. If you decide to stick around and be my friend, I'm warning you now, I tend to be a smart a$$, so consider yourself forewarned. I like to talk about random things, pet peeves and so on. One of the biggest for me is when people use the word irregardless…I've had big arguments about this! I've got a few other "non-words" that I hear every now and then that make my skin crawl. So I figured, hell, I'm not writing about anything earth shattering, and this is basically just a place for me to vent when everyone is tired of listening, so screw it: Let's Conversate About Irregardless. Ha. makes no sense, and is absolutely wrong, but its mine and I love it.
Thanks for stopping by and reading my ramblings, I promise things will get juicer once we delve further into this whole TTC process (lets hope b/c I'm not getting any younger). If you're struggling for a comment to leave, I'll throw you a bone: What are some of your favorite "non-words"? Happy ICLW

happy iclw!! ;) first of all.. we have ALOT in common!

Thanks Diana =) 80's kids are totally rad. Can't wait to follow your journey as well!
ReplyDeleteLove the blog title-it totally made me laugh when I saw it on the ICLW list. I have SUCH a thing about both of those nonwords. They make me crazy!
ReplyDeleteLove your blog! Such a great idea to combine the 80's and IF. Looking forward to reading more.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your tests!
Visiting from ICLW!
Oh, I am already over 30, so yeah...that thing got shattered and barfed upon a while ago.
ReplyDeleteMy real world is too full of fertile people too.
Good Luck for your TTC efforts.

Smartasses unite!
ReplyDeleteI hate the word unthaw. Really. It sends me into a near homicidal rage. If something is unthawed, that means it's frozen. So why do people use unthaw to mean no longer frozen? Why????? There is no god...
I love the blog title and the Little Miss reference!
ReplyDeleteSuch a fun post! I love the 80's too!
ReplyDeleteI hate the term "nom nom." It drives me insane!

Hi from ICLW!
ReplyDeleteSupposably. I hate that TONS of people say that! Its supposedly you freaks!
You had me laughing outloud at work. Keep up the snark!
Suzy- Nom nom, good one. My sister in law like to call food "nom noms" to her kids. BARF. get it right.
ReplyDeleteLissie-That one bugs me too!!! Another one is expecially. I can't even in type it without cringing. Really? Expecially? Can't these people hear themselves?
*likes* correction from above :)
ReplyDeleteHi from ICLW! I LOVE the 89's idea! How fun... my hubby and I also suffer from MFI and its only IVF for us! I look forward to following your journey!
ReplyDelete80's love here too! Love your blog, thanks for stopping by mine!

Hola! Thanks for stopping by :)
ReplyDeleteI love your blog title and look forward to following you :)
I am so glad you explained your blog title because those (non)words make my skin crawl too and I've been fretting about reading this blog ever since I noticed the title.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you've been down such a rough road while you've been trying to grow your family.

Welcome to ICLW. The blog title drew me in b/c I just knew you were being snarky - love it! (also love the tabs up top!) Good luck TTC. ICLW #60
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comments ladies!
ReplyDeleteI'm working on the tabs at the top still, I haven't had a chance to sit at the computer. Thanks for also picking up on my snarky tabs Misshokay :)
Hi from ICLW!! I just have to say that after just this one post, I am hooked. Your personality is wonderful and it really comes through in your writing! The TTC journey is a tedious one, but lots of hope your way!!
ReplyDeleteI love your flashback fridays! I'm also a child of the 80's and I totally had that Snoopy snow cone maker. I bet my parents still have it somewhere actually, maybe I can dig it up. I hope that you get the answers to some of your questions soon. Infertility is a tough road, but you've found a great community to support you through it. Good luck!

ReplyDeleteI lived through the 80's too, but don't have that nostalgia thing.
I must say, I looked at the 'irregardless' in the title here and thought,"hmmmm, benefit of the doubt". But tongue in cheek title, I love it. Mr Stinky and I are one of those annoyingly sickening couples that has their own language (*bowk*) but I can't think of what we say thats different off the top of my head. A friend pointed out "bitlets" the other day, that means "little bits, bitelets, titbits" like a bit to taste, a tasting bitlet. 'Bit' is kinda used for most things and its meaning is conveyed by situational and non-verbal cues
welcome to ICLW :)
ReplyDeleteI'm a fan of snark and sarcasm, and your blog looks like it is one that I will love.
we're also dealing with MFI.
Hi and thanks for your comment. Good luck to you, too! I already love your blog =) The title is amazing... I think my "favorite" non-word has to be refudiate. ::snorts:: I think my least favorite (as in I don't laugh when I hear it, not even a little) would be when people say "fustrate" instead of "frustrate." Seriously?!?! Talk about frustrating!
ReplyDeleteOK few words that irritate me are......
ReplyDeleteinnernet, it is called INTERNET there is a T in there!! grrr
I also hate the skin cream commercial that references 24hrs of moisturization??? Is that even a word???
Last but not least, my dh I love him dearly but he always puts an S on somewhere...i try not to correct him when he says it but OMG!! lol
Thanks for this post Apples very funny!!! xo
